Battlefoam Game Organizers

Tray 1 of the Journeys in Middle Earth set.
There are lots of companies putting out organizers for game boxes these days. You have wood, resin, Etsy stores and the list goes on. I don't know if any are better than another. I am sure plenty of people have their favorite and will talk endlessly about how the one they use is the best. I don't have a favorite, but I am going to talk about Battlefoam.

This is the first foam insert I have ever bought. I had Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth. I knew I was going to paint up some of the miniatures and I knew that I wanted something to protect the paint work (I paint slow so the last thing I want to do is repaint something).

I saw an ad for Battlefoam in my Facebook feed and thought I would give it a shot. It was just $34 with shipping in the United States. I put the order in and it arrived about a week later. Real life kept me busy for a few days, but when I finally got a chance to fill it, I was happy with the results. The miniature tray has a couple of extra slots for additional miniatures. And plenty of space for tokens and extra character cards.
Tray 2 for Journeys in Middle Earth.
This one for the miniatures.

I was disappointed that the spaces for the mini cards were filled up with just the basic set of cards. When Fantasy Flight releases more cards, they won't fit into the insert as it is. Also, there are multiple sets of mini cards and none of the cavities were deep enough to put all of one set in them. So, my cards are all stacked together and I would have to pull out cards from two inserts in order to get all cards for one deck. That is a minor quibble but worth pointing out for prospective buyers.

And as you can see, the token area is just one cavity. That will mean mixing all the tokens together. Again, minor, but something worth noting for those that hate sorting through tokens to find the one they need.

And the final point to make is that in the set that Battlefoam sells for Journeys in Middle Earth, there is no tray for the map tiles. They will sit on top of these two trays. I can understand not having one for the battle boards, but the map tiles could have been put into one large open foam insert. I realize it would have bumped the price up, but I think it is disappointing to not have one.

Am I happy with what I received for the price? Absolutely. It definitely keeps things neater than they would have been with lots of baggies. Now, I know shipping outside the US makes these pricier, but if you are in the US, and want some foam trays, give them a look.
